Albania wants to sell its 16 percent stake in the fixed-phone Albtelecom operator controlled by Turkey’s Calik Group, an official said on Friday.
Turkey’s Calik Enerji Telekomunikasyon AS and Turk Telekom bought 76 percent of Albtelecom for 120 million euros ($154 mln) two years ago after re-negotiating a contract it had signed with the previous Socialist government in 2005.

‘The government decided to sell its stake of 16 percent,’ Suzana Guxholli, an adviser to Prime Minister Sali Berisha, told Reuters. ‘A tender might be held in two months after we have first selected a sale consultant.’
Selling its 12.6 percent stake in the Albanian Mobile Communication (AMC) mobile phone firm on Feb. 11 to Greece’s Cosmote for 48.2 million euros ($62 mln) despite global financial woes ago has boosted the government’s confidence it might have the same success with Albtelecom.
Cosmote, the adaptable arm of Greece’s capital telecom accumulation OTE which bought 85 percent of AMC’s shares in July 2000 for $85.6 million, now owns 97.6 of AMC.
Just like Cosmote, the Calik Accumulation ability be absorbed to bid to coalesce its ascendancy above the 76 percent of the Albtelecom shares it already owns.
Albtelecom has adopted 100 actor euros ($128 million) from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Black Sea Bank to advancement its arrangement and access capacity.
