SOCAR Investments Department Chief Vagif Aliyev said that the contract with Tekfen Inshaat could be signed in end-2008.

“At present we keep negotiating on that matter. The contract will be signed in the near future, undoubtedly, till the end of the year,” V.Aliyev said.

The project cost makes $520 million.

SOCAR’s demand for own construction company in Turkey appeared in connection with its big plans in Turkey. SOCAR is planning to construct two oil refining complexes in Turkey. The construction will commence in 2008 in Ceyhan.

The project will be realized by SOCAR&Turcas Enerji A.S. established in December 2006 by SOCAR and Turcas (Turkey).

The oil refineries will be constructed in two stages – the first stage stipulates construction of an oil refining complex and the second stage – a petrochemical complex. The project capacity will make 10-15 million tons a year and the cost about $4 billion.
