Pöyry awarded owner’s engineering services for Turkish hydro plants

Pöyry has been awarded contracts valued at Eur 2.5M (US$3.6M) for the development of four hydro power plants with a combined capacity of 1100MW on the Murat River, the main branch of the Euphrates.

The project consists of four dams and four power plants and will produce an annual energy generation of 4000GWh.

Pöyry’s assignment includes the preparation of feasibility studies including energy market reports and power output sales concepts, final design and preparation of technical specifications. The work – to be completed in 2012 – will be carried out in cooperation with Pöyry’s Turkish partner, Temelsu.

The project will be developed by SPC Kalehan Enerji Üretim A.S, and will be one of the first large hydro power projects in Turkey developed by private investors.

Saran Energy – Fersa Partnership
