Centrosolar In Turkey

By | 30 Eylül 2010

Centrosolar  has provided modules for a 31 kW thin-film solar power system. The system, which is located on the roof of confectioner Perfetti Van Melle, is located west of Istanbul, Turkey. The system was installed by Form Temiz Enerji A.S., an Istanbul-based partner company of Centrosolar and a subsidiary of the FORM Group in Turkey.

Centrosolar supplied over 100 of its TF Plate Professional modules. Each 288 W module is over five meters long and consists of two laminates made by United Solar Ovonic. Centrosolar says it has developed these large-scale modules specifically for trapezoidal sheeting roofs. Due to triple-junction technology, modules of this type can also be installed on flat roofs or on roofs with unfavorable alignment, the company adds.

Turkey has not yet introduced feed-in tariffs for solar power, Centrosolar notes. Although the country receives an average of 1,250 W of solar radiation per square meter, the solar output installed in the country currently amounts to less than 1 MW.
